Death magnetic is a magnificent return to form from a band who has arguably lost their way since the triumphant release of 1991`s self titled album.
Gone are the hard rock ballads of load and reload. Gone are the sololess and simplistic tracks of St Anger. Those elements stripped away what is left is a great band back to their roots. Textured guitar riffs, intricate solos and frantic drums provide the meat of the album. Even the lyrics are back to form and perfectly suited to the tone of the album.
This album is a true return to form and new fans could be forgiven for thinking it comes after the black album the sound containing the best of the previous with none of the weaknesses of later albums.
